Day 1 in Oahu!

We were in Hawaii from February 2-February 9

I don't think it matters how long the flight is, I will always be nervous before flying with my kids. Halle and Beau are both good natured and easy going, but they're kids and they have their moments! I was super nervous before this flight to Hawaii, I think any parent would be- 6.5 hours is a long time in an airplane, even for an adult! Well knock on wood for future flights, but they were both SO good. I still can't believe how good they were. I knew Beau was tired as we were taking off, so I put him in his carseat, ( I should have included that at the beginning- we bought a seat for him which made allll the difference) gave him a bottle, and he was dead asleep for the first little while. Sweet Beau. We have an ipad that we let Halle use, but have noticed that she is super cranky and irritable if we let her use it too much. So its uses have been limited to airplane rides and airplane rides only. So between all the games and shows on it, she was completely entertained. (along with stickers and coloring, etc) Towards the end she as bored and stood up on her chair, turned around and said, "I want to say hi to people." Who is this girl? The plane ride was a tiny part of our trip, but it's what I was most nervous about it ended up going SO well and I am grateful and don't want to forget.

We got to Honolulu, picked up our rental car, and headed for the North Shore. Our Airbnb was in Laie, right down the street from Laie Point. When we were about 15 minutes away from our place is when both kids finally lost it. With the time change especially, they were exhausted and they both were crying in the back seat. I was blasting the Moana soundtrack and Kev and I just looked at each other and laughed. They had done so well the entire day and we were so glad! and SO grateful to be in beautiful Hawaii!

Our Airbnb was so cute. I could tell they had recently redone everything. The floors and kitchen were especially beautiful! We loved staying there! Halle called it "the blue house" and would say, "are we going back to the blue house?"

We walked down to Laie Point that first morning and Halle was obsessed with the coconuts! She had been listening to the song from Moana where he sings, "consider the coconuts" and she wanted to bring several that we found on the beach home with us. She was so happy running around in warm Hawaii. I loved seeing her run around outside after coming from winter in UT. (which hasn't been that cold this winter but still cold) Whenever Halle said the word yes today she said it like a southern belle, "yayus." Kev and I were dying.

Halle's cute curls were going crazy with the humidity!

Sweet Beau Beau! Look at that chubby little guy

Later that day we headed over to hike the Lanikai Pillbox trail. We strapped Halle and Beau in the carriers and headed up. Halle was SO GRUMPY because she wanted to go to the beach and play in the sand and did not want to be hiking. There was a lot of whining, but we were going to hike up there dang it! She was okay by the end. Look at that view! It was a little harder than we had anticipated but we took it slow carrying the kids and had a good time.

This guy named Mike took this picture for us and Halle said, "what's your name??" She was winning people's hearts left and right! Including these cute Japanese girls that she was talking to at the top as well.

To Halle's excitement, we made it to the beach after our hike and had a great beach day, Halle is like Kevin and loves being buried in the sand. Beau wasn't quite sitting up by himself yet, so we made him a little sand chair!

These pictures of Beau!! Why do babies grow up??
